How many Toyota Frontlander SUVs fit in a 40ft high cube container?
Two fit flat on the floor. More is possible with racking systems — but the Frontlander’s height decides how many.

Short answer: two Frontlanders fit on the floor of a 40ft high cube container. With an angled racking system, loaders can sometimes fit three or four compact SUVs, but it depends on the rack and the exact vehicle height, so we confirm the count with a loading plan for each booking.
Frontlander dimensions vs container dimensions
| Length | Width | Height | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 Frontlander | 4,490 mm | 1,825 mm | 1,625 mm |
| 2022–2024 Frontlander | 4,485 mm | 1,825 mm | 1,620 mm |
| 40ft high cube (typical internal) | ≈ 12,030 mm | ≈ 2,350 mm | ≈ 2,690 mm |
Why only two on the floor?
Two Frontlanders end to end take about 9 metres, leaving roughly 3 metres — not enough for a third 4.49 m vehicle. The 1,825 mm width means they cannot sit side by side either.
When can racking add capacity?
Racking systems lift one end of a vehicle so that another can slide partly underneath, or create a second tier. Two Frontlanders stacked flat would need about 3.25 m of height — more than the container’s ≈2.69 m — so only angled systems can work, and only with careful measurement.

How does the count affect cost?
Container freight is charged per container, so every extra vehicle inside lowers the freight cost per car. Mixed loads — for example one Frontlander plus a smaller car, or vehicles plus spare parts — can also make good use of the space. See Ro-Ro vs container shipping and our cost guide.
Frequently asked questions
How many Frontlanders fit in a 20ft container?
One. A 20ft container is about 5.9 m long inside, enough for a single 4.49 m Frontlander.
Are vehicles secured inside the container?
Yes. Vehicles are strapped to the container floor and chocked at the wheels before the container is sealed.
